Welcome to beautiful Lake Murray, South Carolina, offering seventy-eight square miles of recreation, elegant homes, inspirational sun rises, and gorgeous sunsets.
Lake Murray has over 600 miles of shoreline and encompasses more than 50,000 acres. The lake is 41 miles at its longest point and 14 miles across at its widest point.
To make building of the lake possible, more than 1000 tracts of land were acquired, and 5,000 homes were relocated. In its conception, it gave jobs and cheap electricity to the people of the Midlands of South Carolina, and it gives them lasting beauty and enjoyment.
Lake Murray is famous for a variety of outdoor activities such as diving, swimming, water skiing, boating, hiking, and camping but it also has some of the best fishing in the nation. It is the site of numerous local, SC and national fishing tournaments each year.
Lake Murray is also home to some of the most majestic wildlife in South Carolina — including the Great Blue Heron, the Striped Bass, and millions of migrating Purple Martins.
